Welcome to the Ladies Section. Whether you are new to golf, have recently joined the Club or want to find out how to meet other lady members, there is something for everyone to get involved in, regardless of ability.
Ladies are welcomed and encouraged to compete on an equal footing with their fellow male golfers in the major competitions as well as the many Captain’s days and social events both on and off the golf course.
Lizzie Claridge (Lady Vice Captain – bcgcladiesvcapt@gmail.com) is responsible for running the Tuesday evenings and can provide more information on how these evenings are run including dates etc.
These evenings are an ideal way to learn formats, golf etiquette, different scoring etc in a relaxed and fun way. But it’s not all about the golf – meeting other new players is a key element. A friend made at golf is a friend for life.
Lesley Kirk is our Alliance Rep (bcgcalliancerep@gmail.com). We have three Alliance teams and a team in the Handicap League. For details of the different teams, captains and matches, please contact Lesley.
Monday, Friday & Saturday mornings are member mornings.
No tee-times need to be booked for these mornings up to 12.00 and there is no limit of numbers playing in the roll ups on these days. This will change from April onwards for Monday’s where the members morning will finish at 10.00 due to the start of the Senior matches.
At present, the ladies meet on a Monday and Saturday morning at 9.30. Just turn up and join the queues (depending on the weather!).
On a Thursday morning, the ladies have 6 pre-booked tee-times from 10.04.
The ladies have formed three WhatsApp groups to communicate who’s playing on each of the days, as well as ensuring we have enough tee times on Thursday’s. If you are not already in one or other of these groups, email Sue Bull, Lady Captain (bcgcladiescapt@gmail.com) and we can add your names to these.
Every year, we arrange several friendly matches with other local clubs. These matches are a great way of playing different courses for the cost of a meal. All of these are in the fixture list. Any change of date will be communicated accordingly.
When a match is confirmed as going ahead, sign-up sheets with full details of the match, cost and food options, will be displayed on the notice boards in either the ladies changing room (for the ladies friendlies) or on the notice board next to the gents changing room (for the mixed matches). If you’re interested in playing in any of them this year, please ensure you keep an eye out for the sign-up sheets as some matches are very popular. However, every effort will be made to ensure that everyone gets a chance to play in these friendly matches. The sign-up sheets are placed on the notice boards 5-6 weeks before match day. Regarding the cost, please make sure that you have enough money in your Club V1 competition account to cover the cost as this is how we pay for the home match food. Away matches are paid by cash/card at the venue.
You don’t have to be a couple to play in the mixed matches, but I would ask that, if possible, you do find yourself a man! This just makes life a little easier.
We also have a variety of Opens at Brickhampton that you can enter. These are:
Seniors Team Open – 4 June (men & ladies) – over 55’s
Ladies Open – 1 August
Mixed Open – 26 August
Entry forms for these are available on Club V1 Members Hub, the relevant notice boards or just ask any of the captains for a copy.
Liz Lloyd is our County Rep. If you are interested in playing in any County competitions, please email Liz on bcgcglcga@gmail.com. A list of the competitions can be found on the County website www.glcga.co.uk.
The Vets section is open to any ladies over 60. Val Menzies is our Vets section rep and can be contacted by emailing bcgcvetsrep@gmail.com. Val can confirm how you can become a Vet and where you can find information about matches and how to sign-up to these. Information about Vets fixtures and news can be found here www.glcga.co.uk/vets
